When I was teaching a class in Introduction to Philosophy some years ago, a student complained that he was getting “Phylissophy”–and he may have been correct.  He was getting my “take” on the important questions Philosophy struggles to answer.  I respect the human effort to make sense of life and to discover meaning and truth.  This blog may take many different directions as I share my observations and perspectives. Since I use poetry and art to help me see better, I will share some of my work with you as well, so you can see the different forms the search can take.  I have a special interest in cross cultural explorations, so you may see that strain of discussion in this blog too. When we started an elementary school in SW Asia, the motto we selected for the school was, “The fear (respect) of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom.” For me, the starting point is Jesus who said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.”  I hope that reading this blog will encourage you in your own search for wisdom, and beauty, Truth, and life. I hope it will challenge you to think again about the foundations for a good life.
